New Street Inn Pool Team Crowned Super League 5-Side Champions


Last Friday night in the Coach Inn venue (Friday 31st July 2009) seen the new 2009 Coach Inn & Corona Super 5’s 8Ball Pool League come to a close when the Grand-Finals of this fantastic competition took centre stage with the two semi-finals and final taking place on the night which seen the New Street Inn team from Ederney Co. Fermanagh crowned 2009 Super League Champions receiving the winners cheque for £1,000 and the tournament cup for there efforts……….

In the semi-finals the Fermanagh men put in a superb performance against the much fancied Dee’s Army team recording a fantastic 15-7 result with Eamon Lynch being the star performer in this fixture winning all his individual matches as well as his doubles matches where he partnered Kevin Lavelle to victory with the other New Street Inn team players playing there part in this superb result Brian Curtis (cap), Niall Mc Menamin, Liam Mc Cusker and Kevin Lavelle………

The team of Dee’s Army consisted of the following top players who joined together for this Super 5’s event Damien Corrigan (Fintona, cap), Paul Heaney (Sixmilecross), Tiffy Quinn (Ballygawley), Paul Corrigan (Fintona), Brian McGirr (Ballygawley), Denis Mc Kenna (Dromore) ………….Final Score: New Street Inn 15-7 Dee’s Army

The second semi-final seen the Pocket Rockets come from 9-3 down to record a brilliant 15-10 victory over the league winners O’Connor’s Bar with young Adam Mc Mackin being the top performer in this match fixture winning all his individual games defeating Colin Mc Mackin, Ben Mc Moran, Peader Teague, Ronnie Boyle and Brendan Mc Donagh with the Pocket Rockets other team members also playing there part in progressing to the final Ciaran O’ Reilly (Dungannon), Raymond Todd (Seskinore), Chris Beattie (Aughnacloy), Emmet Maguire (Dregish), Nathan Todd (Seskinore) and Adam Mackin (Beragh)………Final Score: Pocket Rockets 15-10 O’Connor’s Bar

FINAL:
The following two teams of the New Street Inn and the Pocket Rockets got ready to contest the 2009 Grand-Final of the first ever 2009 Coach Inn & Corona Super 5’s 8Ball Pool League with the large turnout of spectators that turned up on the night staying onto watch this grand-final shoot-out and by no means weren’t disappointed with the very high standard of play produced by both teams………..

The Fermanagh men had to show all there fighting qualities right from the start and throughout the match which seen the Pocket Rockets in fine form racing into the following leads of 3-2, 6-4, 7-5, 10-7 and then 14-12 only needing one game for victory but this wasn’t to be as the New Street Inn clawed there back to 14-14 with fantastic victories coming from Liam Mc Cusker and Eamon Lynch to set-up a final game shoot-out with Kevin Lavelle (New Street Inn) and Chris Beattie (Pocket Rockets) going head to head which seen Kevin holding his nerve to take out a brilliant clearance to secure victory for the Fermanagh men to be crowned 2009 Coach Inn & Corona Super 5’s 8Ball Pool League Champions in this great and prestigious event…………Final-Score: New Street Inn 15-14 Pocket Rockets
